The monitoring apparatus further includes a strap (12) having a first end for coupling to the first connector and a second end for coupling to the second connector, wherein the strap contains an optical fiber. The monitoring apparatus further includes a first focusing lens disposed between the light detector and the first end of the strap and a processor configured to measure the variation in light received by the light detector.
