The invention describes an electrical machine (1) having: a stator (3) which is fixed to a housing (20); a rotor (5) comprising a magnetic field generating device (7) for generating a magnetic flux, wherein the rotor (5) is arranged such that it can be coaxially rotated relative to the stator (3), and a gap (15) is formed between the stator and the rotor; and a flux changing apparatus (17), which has a body (19) which can be axially adjusted relative to the rotor (5) and is arranged axially outside the magnetic field generating device (7), in order to change a magnetic flux within the gap (15) depending on an axial position (a) of the body (19) relative to the rotor (5), wherein the flux changing apparatus (17) comprises an adjusting device (29, 31) for axially adjusting the axial position of the body relative to the rotor, wherein the adjusting device has: an actuator (29) which acts on the body (19) by means of an actuating element, and the actuating element acts on the body (19) and/or on the actuator in such a way that a rotary movement of the body (19) can be decoupled from the actuating element (31), from the housing (20), from the rotor (5) and/or from the actuator (29).
