The production method according to the invention is provided in order to reduce the handling complexity during the production of book-like identification documents 200 and in order to reduce the costs during the production of reject documents. A document of this type which is assigned to in each case one person comprises in each case one individualized data page 100 and at least one individualized book page 230. The method comprises the following method steps: (a) provision of the individualized data page 100; (b) provision of an individualization data set which comprises individualizing data contained in the individualized data page 100;(c) provision of a book page sheet 300 for producing the at least one book page 230; (d) separating of the at least one book page 230 from the book page sheet 300; (e) generation of reproductions 500 of individualizing data on and/or in the book page sheet 300 or the at least one book page 230 which is produced from the book page sheet 300; (f) gathering of the individualized data page 100 and the at least one individualized book page 230 to form a page stack; and (g) joining of the individualized data page 100 and the individualized book pages 230 to one another in the page stack. According to the invention, method step (e) is carried out before method step (g).
