A method for wireless communication by a base station is described, the base station comprising determining that a first transmission for a first device of a first type and a second transmission for a second device of a second type are mapped to a same resource element, wherein the first type of device has a capability to perform certain procedures with low latency relative to the second type of device that lacks the capability, and jointly adjusting soft symbol log likelihood ratio, LLR, strengths of the first and second transmissions to determine a third transmission to be transmitted using the resource element.
