METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A CEMENTED CARBIDE MATERIAL
摘要:
Cemented carbide granules suitable for making articles by additive manufacturing comprise carbide grains and a binder comprising any of cobalt, nickel and iron. The granules have a density of at least 99.5 % theoretical and a mean compressive strength of at least 40 MPa. The granules are made by milling cemented carbide powder in an organic fluid with a plasticiser to form a slurry, drying to form a powder, granulating the powder, screening the granules, sintering the screened granules for 2-20 minutes at a temperature in the range 1260-1330 degrees C in a vacuum or protective atmosphere to form an aggregation, breaking the aggregation to form sintered granules and re-screening. The method can further involve one of the following: i) solid-state sintering the granules prior to liquid phase sintering at the temperature in the range 1260-1330 degrees C or ii) forming the granules by pressing the powder into a green body and breaking it up.
