The invention relates to a tungstate ion solution W6+ (VI) including as a solvent at least one polyalcohol, optionally partially etherified, and to a preparation method and the uses thereof. The invention further relates to a layer including at least one tungsten oxide WOz including one or more polyoxotungstate complexes, and to methods for preparing same, the uses thereof and, in particular, a photovoltaic device including such a layer of material.
