Method and system of providing video data to a video player apparatus are described, wherein the method includes the steps of a processor of the video processing apparatus receiving a video frame; the processor receiving viewpoint information from the video player apparatus, the viewpoint information defining a bounded viewport area of pixels in the video frame; the processor generating a processed video frame on the basis of the viewpoint information, the generating including reducing the entropy of pixel values in the video frame by changing pixel values of pixels that are located outside the viewport area;
the processor encoding the processed video frame into a bitstream and providing the bitstream to a video transmission apparatus associated with the video processing apparatus; and, the video transmission apparatus transmitting the bitstream to the video player apparatus.
