The problems relate to how a wireless device can re-synchronize with its source access node in a beam-based system that mainly relies on self-contained transmissions from transmission points (30) in the network (20). As one example advantage, the contemplated methods and apparatus enable wireless devices (50) to perform measurements to support mobility procedures even when no data transmissions are scheduled.
