Provided is an evaluation method, for a rubber composition, by which the friction performance of a rubber composition can be accurately evaluated. The evaluation method for a rubber composition includes the steps of:
(A) calculating a tensile stress or a compressive stress generated in a model, for which an assumed material is a rubber composition, near a projection by simulation when the model slides on a surface having the projection;
(B) determining a reference stress on the basis of one of or both the tensile stress and the compressive stress;
(C) obtaining a tensile strain and a compressive strain of the rubber composition when the reference stress is applied to the rubber composition; and
(D) comparing the tensile strain and the compressive strain.
