A method for separating a cover window from a display, wherein the display comprises a layer of optically clear adhesive bonding the cover window to the remainder of the display. The method comprises capturing an image of a face of the display, the face of the display comprising the cover window; determining a portion of the face of the display based on the captured image; and shining the laser at the face of the display and displacing at least one of the display and a beam of the laser relative to the other such that a point where the beam of the laser is incident upon the display traverses the determined portion of the face of the display.
