The front end assembly (10) includes an electric motor (11); an output device (12) including a guide plate (121) and a chain (122) wound around the guide plate, where the electric motor (11) drives the chain (122) to rotate; a transmission assembly (14a) connecting the electric motor (11) to the output device (12); and a gearbox (145) supporting and accommodating the transmission assembly (14a), where at least part of the gearbox is made of metal. The chain saw can effectively enhance the heat dissipation effect of the gearbox (145) and increase the service life of a transmission mechanism (14).
