Stacking apparatus and method for stacking a separator strip (NS) and sheets of foil (201, 301) comprising a feeding unit (20) for feeding said separator strip (NS) comprising an outgoing orientation control device (R2) of said separator strip (NS), configured to define an outgoing reference direction (DRU) of said separator strip (NS), a stacking unit (1) comprising a stacking surface (10) for receiving said separator strip (NS) and said sheets of foil, a handling unit (130) for respectively moving said outgoing orientation control device (R2) of said separator strip (NS) and said stacking surface (10), a first and/or a second release assembly of a sheet of foil (200, 300) for releasing at a minimum release distance (DmR) from said stacking surface (10) a first or a second sheet of foil (201, 301) with a condition of substantially zero relative speed.
