The invention describes a method of controlling a wind turbine (2), which method comprises the steps of determining a noise budget (Nbudget) for each of a plurality of operating modes (M; M1, ..., M7) of the wind turbine (2); establishing the current operating mode (M; M1, ..., M7) of the wind turbine (2); and limiting the motor speeds (ωA1 - ωAn) of each of a plurality of motor-driven auxiliary devices (A1, ..., An) of the wind turbine (2) such that the noise budget (Nbudget) is not exceeded. The invention further describes a wind turbine (2) comprising a control arrangement (1) configured to operate the wind turbine (2) in any of a plurality of operating modes (M; M1, ..., M7) and to limit the motor speeds (ωA1 - ωAn) of each of the plurality of motor-driven auxiliary devices (A1, ..., An) such that a previously established noise budget (Nbudget) for the current operating mode (M; M1, ..., M7)is not exceeded.
