A brushing mouthpiece device for insertion into a subject's mouth and cleaning an oral surface during use with at least one group of first and second cleaning elements respectively, wherein the second cleaning elements are stiffer than the first cleaning elements and adapted to contact a tooth during use so that the force generated by the stiff second cleaning elements pushing against a tooth urges the mouthpiece to a target alignment position relative to the subject's teeth, whilst still cleaning.
