The present invention relates to a system and method for determining a health metric of an imaging system. The method is a computer implemented method and includes receiving (110) sensor data acquired during a diagnostic sequence comprising multiple diagnostic intervals, wherein a different set of subsystems of the imaging system (60) are active during each of the diagnostic intervals, and wherein a respective subset of sensor data is acquired during each of the diagnostic intervals. The method further comprises analyzing (120) the subsets of sensor data to determine the health metric based on a combination of subsets of sensor data acquired during different diagnostic intervals by performing a mathematical operation between at least two subsets of sensor data acquired during mutually different diagnostic intervals. The method may comprise determining (130) a health status of the imaging system based on the health metric.
