Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a flexible flat cable with a shield where a metal shielding layer, which firmly adheres to a polyethylene terephthalate film insulation layer and can be made a thin layer, can be formed.
SOLUTION: The manufacturing method comprises a step of forming an insulation layer 4 by sandwiching rectangular conductors 5, which are arranged in parallel at intervals of P, between polyethylene terephthalate films 2, 3 so as to provide exposed parts 5A at both ends and then by fusion-bonding the junction surfaces, a step of affixing a film 8 for reinforcement to one side of the exposed parts 5A of the rectangular conductor, a step of affixing a masking tape to the exposed parts 5A of the rectangular conductor and the film 8 for reinforcement, a step of reforming the surface of the polyethylene terephthalate film insulation layer 4, a step of forming an underlying metal layer 6 on the reformed polyethylene terephthalate film insulation layer 4 by electroless plating, a step of forming a shielding layer 7 on the underlying metal layer 6 by electroplating metal, and a step of peeling the masking tape.
