Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for 3-methyltetrahydrofuran.
SOLUTION: In the presence of zirconia hydrate catalyst, 3-hydroxymethyltetrahydrofuran (HOMeTHF) or 3-formyltetrahydrofuran (FTHF) is brought into contact with a secondary alcohol whereby 3-methyltetrahydrofuran (MeTHF) is produced from HOMeTHF or FTHF.
