PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nitrogen fertilizer capable of extending the remaining period of ammonia-nitrogen in the soil.
SOLUTION: In this nitrogen fertilizer containing calcium silicate or a substance including calcium silicate, the calcium silicate or the substance including calcium silicate contains a calcium silicate content in an amount of 3-30 mass %. The calcium silicate or the substance including calcium silicate is obtained by firing a mixture containing a calcic raw material, a siliceous raw material, an alumina raw material, and an iron oxide raw material, and the nitrogen fertilizer is a lime nitrogen fertilizer. It is preferable that the nitrogen fertilizer is at least one of the practice embodiments selected from above-mentioned embodiments.
