PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element material from which a light emitting element which is excellent in durability can be obtained; and a light emitting element comprising the light emitting element material. SOLUTION: This light emitting element comprises a pyrene compound represented by Formula (1), wherein R 1 to R 13 represent respectively any one of an H atom, an alkyl group, a heterocyclic group, an aryl group, an amino group and the like; and X represents any one of a -O- group, a -S- group and a -NR 14 - group, wherein R 14 represents any one of an H atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group and the like.
