Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorption device for a structure, which facilitates setting thereof without requiring a setting space for a foundation, a support, etc., by being directly mounted on a bridge girder to be protected, and achieves effective reduction of a load transmitted to a portion to be protected, by absorbing members.
SOLUTION: The shock absorption device is provided for the structure such as the bridge girder 11, by arranging a number of the absorbing members each formed of a small-diameter hollow cross-sectional member that is shaped on the premise of axial deformation thereof. Each small-diameter hollow cross-sectional member is subject to working such as notching, slitting, rippling, and corrugation, in a side surface thereof, for adjusting a peak load transmitted from an impact application body to an impact receiving body, and residual displacement of a member main body. The absorbing member formed of the small-diameter hollow cross-sectional member is an empty can 14 of a beverage can, for instance, and the shock absorption device is set up by arranging a number of the empty cans.
