PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector, securing excellent waterproof performance in simple structure. SOLUTION: This optical connector 1 includes a connector plug 2 and a connector socket 3. The connector plug 2 includes a housing 10, a sub-assembly 11 for fixing an optical cable 4, and a ferrule 12 for holding an optical fiber core wire 6 of the optical cable 4. A cable seal member 27 is disposed between the sub-assembly 11 and a cable introducing part 13 in the housing 10. The connector socket 3 includes a housing 30 fitted to the housing 10, a sub-assembly 31 for fixing the optical cable 5, and a ferrule 32 for holding the optical fiber core wire 8 of the optical cable 5.
