PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for protecting a catalyst (56) within a combustor (30).
SOLUTION: In one embodiment, a catalytic reactor (14) includes a protective coating (58) that may be chemically removed or mechanically removed while the catalytic reactor (14) is disposed in the combustor (30). In a first embodiment, the catalytic reactor includes the protective coating to inhibit fouling of the catalyst during combustion. In a second embodiment, a method including operating the combustor, and removing the protective coating to reveal the catalyst within the catalytic reactor of the combustor while the catalytic reactor is disposed within the combustor, is provided.
