PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coaxial connector wherein a connection terminal is clamped into an internal conductor with less variations, having high reliability on connection between the internal conductor and the connection terminal, and to provide a method for assembling the same. SOLUTION: An internal contact 20 to be connected to the internal conductor 51 of a coaxial cable 50 includes a conductor placement part 21 on which the internal conductor 51 is placed, and a conductor clamping arm 22 formed integrally with the conductor placement part 21. The conductor-clamping arm 22 has an engaging portion 23 protruding from the side face; and a housing 10 or the conductor placement part 21 has a holding portion 12 or a holding portion 25, into which the engaging portion 23 of the conductor clamping arm 22 clamping the internal conductor 51 is pressed, together with the conductor placement part 21, when it is bent from the conductor placement part 21.
