PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolysis electrode which has a high oxygen overvoltage, has extended service life and is used in electrolytic oxidation reactions.SOLUTION: The electrolysis electrode has an electrode surface layer formed from a valve metal oxide, and the substrate of the electrode surface layer comprises an alloy of a valve metal and noble metal (excluding Ag). The valve metal in the vicinity of the electrode surface has the elongated crystal grains, and the content of the noble metal within the range from the electrode surface to 10 μm in a perpendicular depth direction is ≤5 atom% and further, the valve metal of the electrode surface has an oxide membrane.
