PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen generation apparatus having relatively high hydrogen generation efficiency.SOLUTION: The hydrogen generation apparatus comprises a reaction tank having a holding space to hold a solid reactant, a first lid to cover the holding space and having a plurality of first openings, a second lid placed on the first lid, having a second opening and forming a cavity between itself and the first lid, and a first duct passing through the first lid and the second lid and extending into the holding space. The multiple first openings encircle the first duct, and a liquid reactant reaches the holding space through the first duct, reacts with the solid reactant and generates hydrogen. The hydrogen is passed through the multiple first openings to the cavity, and discharged through the second opening.
