Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The azulene derivative of formula I (R
1 and R
2 are H or 1W12C alkyl or alkenyl).
EXAMPLE: 3-Ethyl-7-isopropylazulene-1-aldehyde.
USE: An antihyperlipemia. It has no side effect and is useful for the prevention and remedy of hypertension, arteriosclerosis, etc.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be prepared by introducing formyl group to the compound of formula II by the Vilsmeier reaction in dimethylformamide solvent in the presence of phosphorus oxychloride, distilling out the solvent from the reaction product under reduced pressure and passing the product through an alumina column to effect the separation and purification of the objective compound.
