PURPOSE: A catalyst which is used for transforming hydrocarbon feedstocks, particularly hydrogenating, and a method for hydrogenating using thereof are provided. CONSTITUTION: A catalyst comprises: (i) at least one metal of group VIIB; (ii) at least one hydro-dehydrogenizing metal which is among the non-noble metals of group VIII and/or of group VIB, preferably molybdenum or tungsten; and (iii) at least one porous matrix which is generally of the amorphous oxide or broadly crystallized type. The catalyst also contains silicon, boron or phosphorous and it can optionally contain at least one halogen. The catalyst is used for transforming hydrocarbon feedstock which is selected from the group consisting of gasoline, gas oil, vacuum gas oil, de-asphalt treated or non-treated pitch, paraffin oil, wax and paraffin and is able to contain at least one hetero atom of S, O or N and at least one metal.
