A honeycomb structured block(15) is formed by bonding the honeycomb structured units through a sealing layer(11) serving as an adhesive layer, and has a flat-shaped cross section. A sealing layer(12) serving as a coating layer is formed on an outer surface of the honeycomb structured block. The honeycomb structured unit includes inorganic particles, inorganic fiber and/or whisker. The sealing layer between honeycomb structured units at the cross section vertical to a lengthwise direction, is formed in a tilt direction with respect to the longer axis of the shape forming the contour of the cross section.
