Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). Embodiments of the present invention provide an apparatus and method for adaptively selecting a beam based on a service and an environment in a wireless communication system supporting beamforming. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for operating a device capable of communicating with another device in a wireless communication system includes determining a type of service, determining an optimal beam based on the determined type of service, and beamforming by using the optimal beam. Various other embodiments of the present invention are also available.
