The remote controller includes a key input unit for receiving a specific key input, a touch screen for receiving a touch input, a wireless communication unit for transmitting and receiving data to and from an image display apparatus, and a controller for controlling the touch screen to display usage mode information in response to a user input to the key input unit. The controller is configured to, in response to a first touch input for selecting at least one of at least one usage mode indicated by the usage mode information displayed on the touch screen, enter the selected usage mode, and control the touch screen to display a user interface corresponding to the selected usage mode.
