The method includes receiving image data, processing the image data, and dividing a display panel into a plurality of regions, synchronizing a scanning timing of the image data at which the processed image data is scanned in a first region among the plurality of regions with a backlight-on timing of the display panel, and outputting the processed image data in the display panel. The outputting the processed image data includes compensating and outputting the processed image data according to a relation between a scanning timing of the image data for each region of the plurality of regions of the display panel and the synchronized backlight-on timing.
