The light emission control unit derives a luminance adjustment parameter for adjusting a light emission luminance of light emitting elements when a video image is displayed with a total number of vertical lines in a current frame such that a total light emission amount of the light emitting elements during one frame period when the video image is displayed with the total number of vertical lines in the current frame is equal to a total light emission amount of the light emitting elements during one frame period when a video image is displayed with a pre-set minimum number of vertical lines. The luminance adjustment unit adjusts, based on the luminance adjustment parameter, the light emission luminance of the light emitting elements.
