The device includes a product holding vessel for accommodating the filling product, and at least one filling element communicating with the product holding vessel for filling the container with the filling product, and a product feed tube for feeding a filling product into the product holding vessel. A seal for sealing the product feed tube with respect to an interior space of the product holding vessel is provided. The seal can be switched between a sealing position for cleaning and a non-sealing position for the filling operation.
