The electronic device includes a communication unit to communicate with an external payment device, a display unit configured to display information for a payment process to the external payment device, and a control unit including an application process module and a secure element module. The secure element module includes one or more electronic cards for performing the payment process through the communication unit, and is configured to update information for the one or more electronic cards in response to an applet update request and generate and transmit an updated applet event to the application process module after updating the information. The application process module is configured to control the display unit to display information for the one or more electronic cards, detect and transmit the applet update request to the secure element module, and update an application in response to receiving the transmitted updated applet event.
