The method and apparatus comprises upon generation of an event requiring the direct communication, transmitting a floor request, monitoring whether a response to the floor request is received from at least one adjacent UE, if a response to the floor request is not received until the floor request is transmitted a predetermined number of times at a predetermined interval, determining that a transmission right for the direct communication is granted, and if it is determined that the transmission right is granted, transmitting a signal to the at least one other UE by the direct communication.
