The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). A method of a proxy device in a communication system of the present disclosure includes identifying a packet loss rate on a wireless connection between a terminal and a server, determining whether the packet loss rate is greater than a predetermined threshold value, and proxying, if the packet loss rate is greater than the threshold value, the connection between the terminal and the server.
