The method for sending an enhanced downlink control channel includes: presetting a multiplexing unit, where the multiplexing unit includes at least one resource block pair, and the at least one resource block pair includes E-PDCCH resources and DM RS resources, and the E-PDCCH resources include multiple control channel elements; sending at least one E-PDCCH corresponding to at least one UE in at least one control channel element of the multiplexing unit, and sending the DM RS corresponding to the at least one UE. The present invention reduces the granularity of an enhanced downlink control channel, saves resources and enhances the downlink control channel, thereby providing more control channels for the UE to use.
