The first substrate further includes an inorganic insulating layer provided between the second electrode and the first alignment film. The difference between the refractive index of the inorganic insulating layer and the refractive index of the second electrode is smaller than or equal to 0.20. The thickness of the inorganic insulating layer is greater than or equal to 50% of the thickness of the second electrode and greater than or equal to 40 nm.
