The method can include performing, by processing circuitry of a user equipment (UE), a downlink synchronization based on an synchronization signal (SS) block of an SS block burst received from a base station in a beamformed wireless communication system, detecting paging downlink control information (DCI) that is collocated with the SS block, and obtaining a paging message or a short message based on the paging DCI.
