The increment rate or the escrow rate may vary based on one or more parameters, including one or more game parameters. Game parameters can include game output parameters, such as a coin out amount, a number of games played, a handpay amount, or a number of players actively engaged in game play with a particular progressive jackpot. Changes in how escrow is applied, or how increment or escrow rates are determined, can be based on time periods or events.
