This disclosure provides a method for displaying application icons. The method may be applied to an electronic device having an expansible screen. When the expansible screen is in a first state, a first group of application icons are displayed in a shortcut window region of the screen, and if the expansible screen changes from the first state to a second state, a second group of application icons are displayed in the shortcut window region of the screen. A quantity of the second group of application icons is greater than a quantity of the first group of application icons. The first state indicates a state in which the expansible screen is not expanded. The second state indicates a state in which the expansible screen is expanded.
