The electronic device includes a first camera module, a second camera module with greater angle of view than the first camera module, and a processor configured to generate, in a first mode, an output image from first image data generated by the first camera module, control a direction of the angle of view of the first camera module while tracking a first object to change a field of view (FOV) of the first camera module, perform a driving preparation operation for the second camera module to change a driving operation of the second camera module from the first mode to a second mode, based on a determination that the first object is to leave the FOV of the first camera module, and generate, when the driving operation of the second camera module has completely changed to the second mode, the output image from second image data generated by the second camera module.
