In particular, the present invention provides security documents and decorative articles comprising one or more optical effect layers (OELs) and methods for producing said OELs, said OELs comprising magnetically oriented platelet-shaped magnetic or magnetizable pigment particles in an at least partially cured coating layer (×10) and exhibiting an eye-catching optical effect thus allowing an observer to easily authenticate said OELs upon titling at viewing/observation angles between about −45° and about +45°.
