Golf clubs.-A sleeve of shock-absorbing material is interposed between the metal shaft and metal socket of a golf club, the bore of the upper end of the socket being restricted to retain the sleeve in place. A rubber sleeve 3, Fig. 3, is vulcanized or cemented to a metal shaft 2. The shaft and sleeve are driven into the socket 1 of a club head 1 and the upper reduced end of the socket is contracted to compress the sleeve. The socket and shaft end are preferably cylindrical but either or both may have a slight taper. In a modification. Fig. 4, the socket is contracted to grip the shaft without compressing the sleeve. In a further modification, Fig. 6, the socket is formed in two oppositely tapered halves 1 , 1 that are connected together by a screw thread 4 or other means.
