A receiver circuit is disclosed which enables a reception signal fed into the receiver circuit by a reception element to be processed—e.g. amplified—with little to no errors The receiver circuit has a cascode circuit on an input side, which cascode circuit generates an output signal from the reception signal of the reception element. Control means that act on the cascode circuit are connected to the cascode circuit. The control means are configured in such a way that they counteract an increase in a high level of the output signal of the cascode circuit on account of an excessively large input signal from of the reception element.
