In a first subfield of the first group, discharge cells of a second group are initialized during a second reset period and address discharged during a second address period after discharge cells of a first group are initialized during a first reset period and address discharged during a first address period. A difference between voltages applied to the first and second electrodes of a turn-on discharge cell during the first or the second address period subsequent to an auxiliary reset period is set to be greater than a difference between voltages applied to the first and second electrodes of the turn-on discharge cell during the first or the second address period subsequent to a main reset period.
