Disclosed are an extract of Nelumbinis Semen (Nelumbo nucifera) having an antidepressive effect, and a pharmaceutical composition and a health food for treating depression, comprising the extract, The Nelumbinis Semen extract is prepared by extracting Nelumbinis Semen with hot water.
