An image processing apparatus includes: an internal memory; a scan controller, operable to cause a scan unit to read an image, to input the image into the internal memory and to issue a volume utilization request that includes a facsimile unit as a volume designation parameter; a transmission controller, operable to cause the facsimile unit to transmit data based on the image input into the internal memory in response to a transmission data output request; a file manager, operable to receive the volume utilization request and to convert the volume utilization request into the transmission data output request to the transmission controller; and a facsimile transmission job controller, operable to request the scan controller to issue the volume utilization request in response to generation of a facsimile transmission request.
