The first substrate includes a first insulating substrate, a plurality of gate lines extending parallel to one another on the first insulating substrate, a plurality of data lines insulated from and crossing the gate lines to define a pixel region, a plurality of first electrode layers formed to be longer in the direction in which the gate lines extend than in the direction in which the data lines extend in the pixel region, and second electrode layers disposed on the gate lines and between the first electrode layers.
