A bias current source generates a constant current Iref by applying to a current-generating resistor a voltage proportional to a thermal voltage Vt. A first bipolar transistor and a second bipolar transistor are disposed in series on the path of the constant current which is generated by the bias current source. A third bipolar transistor forms a current mirror circuit with the second bipolar transistor. A fourth bipolar transistor has a base connected to the base of the first bipolar transistor and has an emitter connected to a temperature-compensating resistor. The constant current circuit outputs a sum of the collector currents of the third bipolar transistor and the fourth bipolar transistor.
